General Introduction
In 1920, Jujiro Matsuda’s son, Tenuji Matsuda became the head of the company. The company began producing sedan cars only by the year 1960 when the well being of the whole Japanese nation increased. The first model was R360 – 2dr car for the town purpose, which was supplied with 2 cylindrical engine volume 356 cubic sm. It was something standing out of the crowd but was relatively cheap, thus available, and comfortable.
Design
There is much interesting in this high turns Mazda. But the first thing that catches our attention is its design. The car has elegant carport with the joint back hull and bumper that make RX7 more suitable car for the theme ‘soul and body’. Installations and painting were made in Backyard Creations in Temple City, California state.
Engine
The carport is surely a nice thing but… the car would be like an empty haunch if there is nothing worthy in the bonnet. Its creator Jeff was so much frightened that he sent his ‘precious’ to Pettit Racing that is located in Lake Park, Florida, for full transformation of super engine 20B, consisting of three rotors. Pettit Racing created 20B with polished channels, engine blocks, piston and ceramics covered turbine. Consequent turbo system was created for parallel usage, for the other two turbines Hitachi carried the car far ahead guided by only one driver’s command. Pettit Racing mechanic Cameron Vors admitted that using consequent turbo system allowed his group reducing the quantity of hoses used up to three, which makes installation, solving problems and also service much easier. Jeff Placed 3 inch direct flow tubing Pettit besides the direct flow muffler HKS. While running this car the thought of particularities of this beautiful hull stands aside, all attention goes to dynamics. Rotor! This is a magic aggregate (invented by Felix Vankel), which supplies the car with unusual and untypical character that one needs time only to get used to it. Only one second or a little more is needed for the tachometer pointer raised from the low up to 9000 turns.
Safety System
The transferring of three rotors power on the asphalt is what Mazda speed LSD deals with the help of back cardan and ceramic cohesion from Advanced Clutch Technology Xtreme. Jeff also changed suspension, changed original shock absorber to Koni sport, stabilizers Pettit, low sportive mainspring with the possible weight consisting of 275 kg on the front and 180 kg on the back.
For the braking there were chosen sportive braking disks and shoes from Pettit Racing. For taking part in Solo2 Unlimited Street Class the car was provided with many safety systems! Especially for Jeff there was created salon sorting cage. Together with this cage there were installed appliances from Auto Meter, Corbeau seats and fire extinguisher from Safe Craft, sportive steering wheel produced by Dave Turner and 4 punctual seat belts from Simpson.
Review
This brand of car creates a legend, where a usual RX 7 is not worse than its elder brothers that are being transported by trailer for taking part in racing. The car is very stable on the road. It has three rotors engine, huge spoiler and the whole set of design trifles that make the passers by stay still. This RX7 is worthy of an excellent mark.
It has been said long time ago that not only in money one’s happiness, you can surprise no one nowadays with an expensive car. The rules of the games are changed now: if you wish passers by turn round their heads, then buy something unique. For those who do not care for maximum return for minimum money, a new set of cars is offered for this season: BMW6, Honda S2000, Mercedes Benz SLK and recently appeared on European market Chrysler Crossfire Roadster. But there is more piquant dish: Mazda RX7 with rotor-piston engine.
It is needed to say that Japanese production is too stuffed with hi-tech and this scared off importers and potential buyers. But those who had courage to meet technically new ideas were never sorry for it. According to technical features and originality in constructing Japanese cars go ahead their rivals, being financially available.
